Raindance has been teaching filmmakers since 1992 with a focus on independence and personalized skill development. Based in London’s West End, Raindance Film Festival is the UK’s largest independent film festival.

It is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, BAFTA, and the British Independent Film Awards, with selected shorts qualifying for Oscar® and BAFTA consideration. Our film festival, launched in 1993, is now considered one of the top film festivals in the world (Variety).

At Raindance, we provide a variety of evening and weekend courses aimed at introducing students of all ages and backgrounds to the fundamentals of visual storytelling. Our degree programs are designed to equip emerging talent with the crucial skills and confidence necessary to realise their creative visions and seamlessly integrate them into the industry. Covering everything from scriptwriting and storyboarding to directing and editing, each course is thoughtfully designed to be both captivating and informative.

The remit to train and develop filmmakers from under-represented communities has been a huge part of the agenda for the last 32 years.

Through various partnerships Raindance has pioneered community outreach to under-represented people in the Greater London area. The education and mentorship programmes have included partnerships with Netflix, Sony, British arts Council and the British Film Institute.

Today the need for our remit is greater than ever. As a force for good we needed to bring all our different audiences together.

This Community Impact Membership now includes all of the Raindance Organisation working together to strengthen and elevate the greater good for all.

Through collaborative efforts, we aim to foster an environment where creativity, knowledge, and compassion flourish. By uniting diverse voices and perspectives, we can address pressing challenges more effectively and create innovative solutions.

Our initiatives focus on empowering individuals and communities through education, arts, and social engagement.
